A hugely experienced director with extensive credits on both TV and film drama, praised for his dynamic visual storytelling, strong communication, unflappable approach and trust, economy and ability with actors. One producer described Daniel as ‘the most naturally talented director they had ever worked with’.
Daniel Wilson is a director whose recent work combines genre confidence, visual flair and a sharp sense of fun. His second feature, Play Dead, is a slick, heavy metal–infused horror with a wicked sense of humour — a film that revels in atmosphere, energy and gore while never losing sight of character or storytelling.
His debut feature, The Devil Went Down to Islington, took a darker comic turn, reimagining the Faustian legend on the streets of North London. Made on a tight budget but with high ambition, the film earned strong reviews and continues to build a loyal following.
Behind these features sits over two decades of experience at the highest level of British television drama. Daniel began his career in 2000, moving straight from film school into training on EastEnders, before going on to direct standout episodes of EastEnders, Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Doctors, Hollyoaks, Holby City, Waterloo Road and River City.
As a director, Daniel is known for the energy and trust he brings to a set. He creates calm, collaborative environments where actors feel supported and crews work as a unified team. His visual style is dynamic and cinematic but never showy — always in service of story, performance and tone.
